Beyond Belief: Seances & Spiritualism in the 19th Century

Join us in the darkened parlor of the historic Lee Mansion to discover the heartbreaking reasons for the rise of spiritualism and the lengths the bereaved would go to communicate with their lost loved ones in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Shelley Davies Wygant, the author of “Haunted Ellicott City” and “Haunted Howard County, Maryland”, will reveal the historical roots of this national obsession with the supernatural. The methods, magic, and sleight of hand that mediums used to both comfort and con those who just couldn’t let their dead children, parents, and friends go. Light funeral fare and beverages will be provided as well as the chance to have hands on interaction with Ouija boards and other spiritualism artifacts and a book signing, too. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Eventbrite here. This event is currently SOLD OUT.
