Homeschool Open House
Join us for a fun and informative event geared toward homeschooling families. The Village will be filled with Colonial Living History Presenters engaging the students in various activities that demonstrate life during colonial times. A special puppet show featuring “Silly Goose and Val” will be staged for all participants. This is a rain or shine event.
Each child participating in the day’s activities must have a paid admission and must be accompanied by a paid parent/guardian/chaperone. Other non-participating family members are welcome to attend and observe in an area designated by the presenter. Registration tables open at 9am. A Year in the Village: Opening Artist Reception for Ann Crostic
The Lee Gallery, located in historic Lee Mansion, presents an exhibition opening and reception for artist-in-residence Ann Crostic, highlighting her year-long project of painting the village en plein air. All are welcome to attend.
Plein Air Weekend
During the weekend of November 15-17 (previously scheduled for September 27-29 but postponed due to weather), plein air artists from the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Association will be working throughout Historic Jerusalem Mill Village capturing its beauty in their artwork. Stroll around our beautiful grounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning to see the artists at work. A "Wet Paint" sale is planned to begin at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon in the Lee Mansion.
Speakeasy Walking Tour
Join our curator for this exciting behind the scenes walking tour of Historic Jerusalem Mill Village. This event is limited to 8 guests, due to tight spaces and dark places. Please wear comfortable shoes, as we will traverse up and down stairs, ending up below the Lee Mansion for a Speakeasy experience. Please note that parts of the tour will involve spaces with low ceiling heights and tight steep stairs which might not be suitable for visitors with mobility issues. Food and Libations will be served. Feel free to dress in period attire. Have fune with it! Our events benefit the ongoing critical preservation projects of this historic site. Christmas During Prohibition Holiday Cocktail Workshop
Join us during this festive time in the Lee Mansion! Impress your holiday guests with your knowledge of Prohibition era cocktails! Using old recipes with an updated spin, Jeff Crooks, our Jerusalem Mill mixologist, will walk you through a selection of holiday cocktails with a little back history for each one. We are excited to welcome Jeff again this year, as he did an amazing job with our sold out, past workshops. Hors d'oeuvres, a charcuterie board and homemade holiday desserts will be served. Guests will take home a souvenir cordial glass. Proceeds for this and all events, go directly towards our ongoing restoration and preservation projects. Tickets are on sale at EventBrite here. Barn Raiser Bull, Shrimp & Oyster Roast
Join us for a fun afternoon! We’re raising funds for the reconstruction of our historic Bank Barn, built in the early 1800’s. Tea in 18th-Century America
Join us for a fun afternoon in the Lee Mansion learning about 18th-century American tea culture, with a presentation, book signing, and of course, tea! Author, Kimberly Walters will cover the highlights of her book, "Tea in 18th Century America.” Afterwards, a traditional tea ceremony with a variety of teas and treats will be enjoyed. Beyond Belief: Seances & Spiritualism in the 19th Century
Join us in the darkened parlor of the historic Lee Mansion to discover the heartbreaking reasons for the rise of spiritualism and the lengths the bereaved would go to communicate with their lost loved ones in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Shelley Davies Wygant, the author of “Haunted Ellicott City” and “Haunted Howard County, Maryland”, will reveal the historical roots of this national obsession with the supernatural. The methods, magic, and sleight of hand that mediums used to both comfort and con those who just couldn’t let their dead children, parents, and friends go. Light funeral fare and beverages will be provided as well as the chance to have hands on interaction with Ouija boards and other spiritualism artifacts and a book signing, too. Great Train Robbery Concert
We are so excited to announce that the Great Train Robbery has rescheduled their concert with us… after two weather cancellations! Doors open at 2 PM. Bring your friends and let the AMAZING musicians of Great Train Robbery fill your fall afternoon with their classic, smoky, Southern Rock sound. Pack your picnic basket, favorite beverage, a chair or blanket.

Oyster Roast
Join us for an Oyster Roast sponsored by the Jerusalem Mill Classic Car Club. Open to all! This fundraiser will be held in the Paddock, where the club members will be showing their cars. A $25 admission ticket includes oysters, food, drink & fun! All proceeds will go to the historic preservation of the village. Vintage Baseball Triple Header
Jerusalem Mill is the home field for “The Chesapeake Nine,” Vintage Baseball Club. This nine-inning vintage sport adheres to rules set in 1864, which calls for nine players per team, underhand pitching, no gloves and wooden bats. This triple header features our home team along with “The Keystone 9” and “The Rising Sun Club.” No admission fee. Bring the kids! On Middle Ground, A History of The Jews of Baltimore
Join us for an insightful afternoon in the Lee Mansion as Public Historian, Museum Curator and Author Deborah Weiner shares her knowledge on the history of the Jewish Community in Baltimore. 250 Years - The Architectural Evolution of the Lee Mansion
Join Peter Morrill of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for an in-depth look at the architectural evolution of the Lee Mansion including a behind the scenes tour of portions of the house not usually open to the public. A social on the porch will follow the event with food and drinks. This event benefits our critical preservation projects, such as the recently excavated Lee Mansion Kitchen. Charlie Zahm returns to Jerusalem Mill for a night of Celtic Music, weaving magical moments of Scottish and Irish history for the listener and viewer. Charlie also performs period North American music from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as applying his own style to American Cowboy Ballads and Country music. Join us for a performance and a tea featuring Alisa Dupuy, who will captivate attendees with her first person interptetation of Elizabeth Van Lew. Van Lew was a prominent member of Richmond, Virginia society, an abolitionist and a philanthropist. She defied convention and built an extensive spy ring for the Union Army. “One of the things that made women so effective as spies during this time period was that few people expected them either to engage in such ‘unladylike’ activity, or to have the mental capacity and physical endurance to make them successful,” said historian Elizabeth Leonard, author of All the Daring of the Soldier: Women of the Civil War Armies. This event is currently sold out.

Dorcas Society of Reedy Point
Meet the ladies of the Dorcas Society of Reedy Point. This faith-based living history group interprets the history of American female charity work. In the summer of 1864, the General Store in the village was raided by Confederate Soldiers under the command of Major Harry Gilmor. The soldiers "requistioned" boots, shoes, other wearing apparel and David Lee's horses. To commemorate the anniversary of Gilmor’s Raid, visit the ladies between 11 am and 4 pm as they interpret their contributions to the war effort. No admission fee.

The class will be followed by a “porch social” with fruit, power bites and refreshing mint water.
