Dorcas Society of Reedy Point

Meet the ladies of the Dorcas Society of Reedy Point. This faith-based living history group interprets the history of American female charity work. In the summer of 1864, the General Store in the village was raided by Confederate Soldiers under the command of Major Harry Gilmor. The soldiers "requistioned" boots, shoes, other wearing apparel and David Lee's horses. To commemorate the anniversary of Gilmor’s Raid, visit the ladies between 11 am and 4 pm as they interpret their contributions to the war effort.  No admission fee.
