13th Annual Colonial Craftsmen Weekend
September 20 - 21, 2008

General

  • Registering for the event implies that you have read, understand and agree to these rules and guidelines.
  • All clothing, tents, gear and accouterments MUST conform to the 1750-1790 time period.Revolutionary War era (1775-1783) is encouraged.
  • No modern sunglasses unless medically required. Period styles are strongly encouraged.
  • Period eyeware is encouraged for those wearing eyeglasses.
  • Sorry, no pets allowed.

    Registration & Arrival

  • Camp fee is $ per
  • Sutler fee is $ per camp with two adults.
  • Campers under 16 years of age are free.
  • Pre-register by September 01, 2008 and receive $ off camp or sutler fee.
  • Registration at gate costs $tbd extra per .
  • Those who can arrive and set up on Thursday, September 18 or can do scheduled, public demonstrations may be elligible for waived or reduced fees: Email us or call 410-877-0305 for details and arrangements.
  • Special arrangements can be made to set-up as early as Wednesday, September 17 and/or stay as late as Monday, September 22. Contact Us for details.
  • You must stop at registration upon arrival, before entering camp.
  • Gate hours are:   (note: gate hours will be strictly enforced)
          Wednesday early set-up all day (by prior arrangement only)
          Thursday early set-up all day
          Friday 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-8:00 p.m.
          Saturday 7:00-9:00 a.m.
          Sunday after 4:00 p.m.
  • Tear down is Sunday after 4:00 p.m. Allowance can be made by prior arrangement or in case of emergency.
  • No vehicles in camp except for unloading and loading during designated gate hours.
  • There is a 1 hour time limit to unload vehicles starting Friday, September 19 at 9:00 a.m.

    Camp Rules

  • Camp rules are in effect from 9:00 a.m. Friday to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
  • All modern items (coolers, bottles, cans, plastic, cell phones, etc.) must be kept out of sight at all times.
  • You must be in period attire within 1 hour of arrival and remain so throughout the event.
  • Cell phones must be kept on vibrate (ringer turned off) and must be kept out of sight for use.
  • Absolutely no propane, kerosene heaters, Coleman lanterns or charcoal lighter fluid will be permitted.
  • Only registered participants are allowed in camp during non-public hours.
  • Camp quiet time is from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO loaded firearms in camp. No stealing. No fighting. Serious infractions will be dealt with by immediate expulsion from camp and reports to appropriate authorities.
    (For purposes of this rule: a "loaded" firearm includes blank charges and/or primed weapons except for preapproved demonstrations.)
  • This is a public family event. Rowdiness, drunkenness and other behavior detrimental to the purposes of the event will not be tolerated.

    Animals

  • No pets allowed.
  • Animals other than pets, ie. horses, mules, oxen, etc. are permitted. Current health and negative Coggins certificates will be required at the gate.
  • Owners are responsible for the health, safety and conduct of their animals. Make sure your animals are tolerant of the sights, sounds and chaos of active events.
  • All tack, equipment, wagons, buggies and accessories must be period appropriate.
  • Wagons, buggies, etc. must be inspected prior to use.

    Sutlers

  • All items offered for sale or trade must be appropriate to the 1750-1790 time period.
  • A Sutler is any person(s) that sets up a trade shelter or lodge, or sets out a trade blanket or hide with goods offered for sale, trade or barter.
  • Small Blanket sutler has one blanket or hide, not to excede 110"X110" and offers goods with a total value of less than $500. There is no sutler fee for a Small Blanket Sutler.
  • A Commercial Sutler offers goods with a total value over $500 and must pay the sutler registration fee.
  • All sutlers/traders will be inspected after setup and issued approval by the trade committee.
  • All Trade goods (original, handcrafted, and authentic reproductions or adoptions) shall conform to all federal, state, county and township rules and regulations. For specific information, contact the proper authorities in the event area. This is your responsibility.
  • NO alcoholic beverages shall be sold, traded or bartered, OR in any way distributed for profit.
  • Animal parts or protected species that do not conform with the laws of the state of Maryland, and the Federal Government, shall not be sold, displayed, or possessed at this event. It is the sutlers responsibility to check applicable laws.
  • Native American goods must reflect Eastern Woodland style of the 1750-1790 time period.
  • Cassettes, cd's, and video tapes are to be displayed in a period container or are to be covered at all times. A period sign may be displayed offering the items for sale.
  • Books, patterns, painting, etc. pertaining to the period, may be sold, but must be displayed in a period manner.
  • NO plastic packaging, Styrofoam, stick on price tags, soda sold in cans, dream catchers, breech loaders, candy in plastic packaging, PVC pop guns, or anything not considered to be pre-1790. The burden of proof is on the Trader and NOT the Trade Committee.
  • Taxes are the responsiblity of the Sutler.
  • The trade committee has final say regarding compliance with trade/sutler rules.
